Why Men Avoid Commitment

Men and Commitment

It's not a new topic nor one that will go away anytime soon. From the dawn of man, it seems women have been faced with the age old dilemma as to why their man (or men for that matter) cringe at the mere notion of a commitment. Bring up the "M" word and watch a man sweat profusely. It's no wonder the modern woman is the one who takes the lead when it comes to pushing her man to marriage; If led to his own device, the man would rather not commit to a marriage, but be a "free agent". It's for this very reason of lack of commitment that Dating Guide Magazine explores some of the reason a man may avoid being in a committed relationship.

Losing his independence

Men can be characterized like cats. They don't listen to well, like to come and go as they please, and for the most part prefer to be independent. It's the loss of his independence which motivates him from wanting to make that commitment. While not all men fall into this stereotype, most do prefer a little independence; a night out with the guys so to speak. Give him his space and like any good cat, you'll find him sitting on your lap more often then not.

Seeking Mrs. Perfect

Some men may not be ready to make that commitment because they feel the "perfect woman" is yet to come along. They fear that they may be missing out by limiting themselves to just one women; you! This can be a never ending cycle in which the "perfect woman" may never materialize. There are no perfect women (or men for that matter). There's just decent people looking for love and companionship. If you have a man that is seeking the perfect mate, you may have a man who is unwilling to commit; cut your losses sooner than later..

Career Success

It has been said that a man defines himself through his work and that a woman defines herself through her relationships. Whether this holds true or not, it is a reality that most men feel that if they are not successful in their career than they may not be successful in there relationships. They are waiting to "make it" before they make that commitment. The sad fact is that a lot of these men never make it, either in their business or their relationships. If you have a man that is married to his career, then chances are he's not going to be married to you. It's time to seek a man content with what he is already doing in both job satisfaction and income level.

Bad Past Relationships

It's not unheard of that a guy who has had a few bad relationships in his past is reluctant to commit. While every relationships is different and every woman is different, if you find that your man has had a pattern of bad relationships, then you may want to take a closer look at who he is. He may not be the one for you, regardless of whether he wants to commit or not.

He's just not into you

Lets face it, if you're dating a guy who is reluctant to commit and avoids the topic of commitment at all costs and doesn't fit into any of the above categories, then you may have a situation where he may just not be in to you or the relationship. The best approach is to just confront him and ask him; but deep down inside, I think you may already know the answer to that question and are reluctant to admit it yourself. It's best to cut your ties and seek a man who is willing to commit to you.

It may seem that getting a man to commit is somewhat of a challenge. It's almost like playing a strategy game, moving your pawns across a game board until you have him in checkmate. While there may be multiple reasons why he won't commit, they may be legitimate. There are a number of factors which can keep a man from committing. The real questions is are you willing to wait and if so, is your man worth the wait?
