11 Things You Want To Take With You On A Date

Dating Tips Wallet ImageWeather you are going on your first date or headed for number two, below are a few suggested items you may want to consider taking with you before you embark on your evening of fun. Keep in mind that these are merely suggestions and depending on your date, comfort level, and intentions, you may not need all of the items.

  1. Cash/Credit Card - It should be a no brainer, but you would be surprised to know that leaving home without money to pay for a date is rather common. While traditionally men have paid for the date, it's not uncommon for a woman to pay or at the least to pay her share.

  2. Cell Phone - While it's frowned upon to text or talk on the phone while you are with your date, it's a good idea to have one with you in case you're running late or need to fake a call to get out of the date.

  3. Identification - There's nothing more embarrassing than being carded or pulled over on a first date and you don't have identification. Not to mention you'll need it if you are using a credit card to pay for the evening.

  4. Breath Fresheners - Not gum, but mints. The last thing you want to do is smack your gum like a ball player. Selecting mints gives you a discrete way of freshening your breath for that possible, after dinner smooch.

  5. Chap stick - Keeps your lips moist in the event you find yourself locking lips after a steamy conversation or meal.

  6. Dates Number - It may seem like a no brainer, but it's happened. You're running late and you need to call your date, but wait, you don't have his/her number. Add it to your cell phone and you won't forget it, unless you forget your cell phone.

  7. Small Planner with Calendar and Pen- Whether you plan on making a second date or not, it's always a good idea to carry a planner with a calendar and pen. This way you can check your availability if you plan on a second date or if you want to avoid a second date by saying you're all booked up.

  8. Condoms - While it's probably not a good idea to sleep with your partner on the first date if you're looking for everlasting love, but let's be real, it happens. Even if you're the woman, it's a good idea to carry condoms if you find your date irresistible and want to get your groove on since some men may not carry condoms as they may not want to use them.

  9. Mace - Let's face it, we live in a changing world. While we all hope that when we go out on our first, second, or even third date that everything will be romantic and nice. However, the reality of it is that online dating, while safe for the most part, allows us to live in an anonymous world. You just never know who you might meet and what their intentions are. It's better to be safe than, uhmmm, sorry.

  10. Hand Sanitizer - Lets face it, with the out break of the H1N1, Swine Flu and other harmful bacteria, it only makes sense to keep yourself clean in the event you get a next date; you don't want to have to miss a great opportunity because you got sick on your first date.

  11. Cologne/Perfume - Just in case you forgot to freshen up before your evening out or you're meeting your date after work, it's a good idea to carry a small bottle of your favorite

cologne or perfume. You don't want to have a close encounter just to have your date repel away from you.
Again, these are not steadfast rules on dating, but suggestions that may help bring a little comfort and safety for you on your date. If you have any other items you would take on a date, Dating Guide Magazine would love to hear them. Leave a comment below.

How about kleenex? I recall a date I was on and the guy just kept sniffling. I finally had to offer him my kleenex. Glad I had some.

Great article! I think another item, although it's not something you can carry with you, should be a sense of humor. So many guys lack this, so it's why I think it is important. Women like guys who have a good sense of humor.
